Javier Sagrera has achieved a new podium in the third round of Eurocup-3, which took place at the historic Monza circuit. The 19-year-old young driver concluded another weekend of competition, with the presence of Álex Palou.
On Friday, during the first qualifying session, he secured the sixth position on the grid for the first race on Saturday and a fourth place in the second qualifying session for Sunday's race. Both he and his team, Palou Motorsport, worked hard to find the best performance of the single-seater and overcome the bitter taste of the last race at Motorland.
The first race kicked off on Saturday at 09:50 a.m., and Sagrera made a strong start with the desire and ambition to quickly reach the front positions. "The first laps were very good; I positioned myself 2nd in the second lap and had a very good pace. However, midway through the race, I lost some pace compared to the drivers in first and second place. Towards the end of the race, I regained pace to finish 4th", comment. The catalan driver, who acknowledges that he managed the second race much better, learned to start with more composure and wait for the right moment to attack and climb positions.
"On Sunday, in the last race, we had a good start again. The track was a bit damp, but the first laps went well. I approached the race with more composure compared to Saturday, where I attacked and reached second place, but then the pace dropped. This time, with more patience, I was able to gradually overtake and even took the lead for a few moments. However, in the last laps, we lost a bit of pace. The car was a bit challenging to drive towards the end; we had many issues in sector 2, but we made a big step compared to Saturday, learning many things that we will take to Zandvoort", he explains.
The event in the Netherlands will take place on July 15-16 and will mark the halfway point of the championship. Sagrera currently holds the sixth position in the overall standings."
